The Week That Was #19
March 22nd to March 28th, 2026
Welcome to this week’s edition of The Week That Was, a collection of images that I’ve taken the previous week.
You may find that this post is too long for you to read in your email. So, to see it in all of its glory, you might have to view it in your browser or via the Substack app.
Most of the photos this week were taken in High Park, 400 acres of sanctuary in the crazy metropolis that’s Toronto. I’m lucky enough to live within walking distance of the park so it’s my go to place to spend some much needed time in nature.
Now the weather is starting to warm up, the birds are out in abundance and the park is full of birdsong. I find bird photography very relaxing and good for the soul. It forces me to slow down, be patient and become more observant.
Aside from the birds, there were also plenty of little furry creatures running about
Of course, the ubiquitous lost glove.
Down on the lakeshore I found the perfect sign for the times we are currently living through
This was at Bayview subway station. No issues this time with station staff telling me not to take photos.
That’s all for now, folks. Hope you have a great week.

A superb set, Mark, that nuthatch shot in particular. Thanks for sharing.
Hopefully the glove, in that configuration, is pointing towards certain people in high places that should be behaving better... ☮️
Birdsong and hibernating now done, spring is here for sure! Nice set. I find the ladder very creative, is it permanent?
