Haha I always end up with a smile on my face when I read your post Mark - those final two images certainly brought the smiles on this evening! As for the basketball nets - I like them, in particular the second and fourth ones. I think the gritty look really suits them - a bit film noir...who'd have thought you could make a mini project out of them but this proves you can. As for the blossom it's beautiful - such an uplifting sight!
Thanks, Lin! I really liked the look I was able to achieve for the hoop shots. They would have been a bit bland without the shadows and highlights to give them some character. As for the blossoms, I caught them just at the right time as theyāre all done now. As for the smiles, I always try to keep my subscribers happy š
Thanks, Todd. The lighting conditions were perfect for the shadows on that day. Not so much since then though but, hopefully, that will change soon so I can try to get some more hoop shots.
Basketball hoops are so fun. Different heights, different angles, but the ring, backboard and some kind of āskirtā are constant. Well done! Sakura is a sign, and the face is so much fun. And to end with not one, but potentially two screaming kids and parents desperate to find what is lost⦠so sad š. I always wonder if picking things up and hanging them, or placing them on something off the ground is a disservice to those searching with their eyes glued to the ground? Have a great week!
What an atmospheric set of images! Those hoops look like nooses giving them that dark, moody, almost cinematic vibe ... like film stills straight out of a noir film. Totally different from your Sakura trees which are so light and beautiful and those playful, colourful lost items. It's like your whole post moves through different moods in a week of small, found moments. Thanks so much for sharing them all, Mark. šš
Thanks, Deborah. I think it definitely does reflect my moods throughout the week. Itās been a bit of an up and down one. However, Iām pleased you liked the photos and appreciated the film noir look of the hoops that I was trying to achieve. Many thank for your comments šš»
I always find myself drawn to basketball hoops, especially those with personality. I think you have the start of a cool series. Also love the blooms. I canāt get enough of them.
Those hoops are certainly a mood! I like them very much. And the blossoms!
Thanks, Liza! Much appreciated. Unfortunately, no lost gloves this week though.
š Iām fairly certain more are headed into your orbit soon.
I love the bold, high contrast shots, and the Sakura shots and the last two āfindsā. Basically, I love them all!
Thanks so much, Alicia! That makes me very happy to hear that.
Love the high contrast in those hoops shots.
Thanks, Marcel!

Great collection of hoops, Mark! I especially love the ones with well defined shadows.
Thanks, Todd. The lighting conditions were perfect for the shadows on that day. Not so much since then though but, hopefully, that will change soon so I can try to get some more hoop shots.
love the basketball hoops
Thanks, Mike!

Wow that face carving on the tree is something else.
Yes, itās pretty impressive. Itās one of four in the park that were carved into dead trees.
Came here to say the exact same thing.
