Many thanks, Marcello. I really enjoyed our little jaunt around the city, even if I did bring the wrong lens π€. We mustnβt leave it so long until we do it again. See you around, neighbour.
Hey Mark, I enjoyed listening to this one for a change and then scrolling through your photos. I especially love the swans at the end. It seems sort of symbolically fitting for the end of winter. Enjoying the walk with you as usual!
Seeing the first few photos in this post, I noticed the variety that characterizes your work once again, but now it's spring and your images show it. More attention to natural subjects, doing their thing in the bright spring sun. I love the squirrels and the chickadee and cardinal. They are so close, it makes me think you brought your tele, but you write all these animals weren't bothered by your presence;I wish we had some of that here too! The train station is a beautiful space, and I liked how you captured its dimension without exaggeration, which may be tempting in such a place. I like the photo of the swans on the lake with the remnants of winter still around them., and the wasp nest. 'Fear less, create more", you've taken that to heart, so it seems.
Yes, you are correct ππ». I dusted off the telephoto and put it to good use. Despite that, I was still able to get closer to the birds and squirrel than I expected to. In fact both birds kept flying closer to me which was interesting. I think nature photography is probably my sweet spot and what Iβm happiest doing. I just donβt always get enough opportunities.
Pleased to know you liked the station photos and the swans seem to be a hit with everyone.
Thanks so much for your comments and support, Vincent π
What a wonderfully diverse week of pictures you've had Mark - I love the station images. such a grand entrance and you've captured it so well. Of course I can't overlook the glove which made me smile... but the final image of the swans in my favourite - especially that perfect 3 in the water.
Iβm glad to hear itβs starting to warm up for you. I really love the last two photos in particular - βfear less - create moreβ and the swans. Very nice!
Ah, those squirrel photos are fantastic. I reckon we can forgive his belligerence just for being so cute. We still have reds here (saw one bobbing and flitting about in our garden yesterday- much to our delight). I'd have to be very patient, though, if I wanted to get a piccie as here they're so shy of us humans. The station set is superb also.
Wasp nests truly are works of creative excellence that always leave me with a sense of quiet wonder when I see one inside, though preferably when the residents have vacated! Although much maligned for obvious reasons, I have a lot of respect and admiration for these amazing creatures.

Then again,
a pic of a glove
I'm sure we'll love..
Thank you!'

(No, I'm not sure where that last but came from, either! π).
Haha! Love the poem, Ralph. Youβre very lucky to have a red squirrel in your garden. Theyβre very rare in the UK if memory serves me right. Here theyβre pretty common, especially in the pine forests up north. Always fun to watch them though.
Personally, I could do without wasps and hornets. Annoying little buggers. I much prefer the serenity of bees. However, I do share your admiration for their nests.
Nice! The two swans are fantastic. Nice to see the world come back to life. Union Station has always been confusing to me, but it is very photogenic. From a time when the rails were everything, not just for stuff, but humans! Great update all round! Thank you!
Thanks, SΓΈren! The swans were so serene as they glided slowly through the ice. Lovely to watch. I think youβd probably find Union Station is even more confusing now than when you were last there. There were some major renovations done, which is good, but itβs so much bigger now itβs very easy to get lost. At least they kept the main hall intact.
Itβs so funny how thereβs always one thatβs more monkey-ish than the others. I have one I call βMonkeyβ who tortures our hound dog. Makes me laugh out loud. Loves to hide nuts in my gutter garden and sit on the wire yelling at Bea.
Mark, what a wonderful wander through your week! Thank you so much for sharing both words and images. Your eye for character, light and those small, surprising moments always makes your "the week that was" posts a joy to behold.
I love all your images, most especially those gliding mute swans. For after sharing such a harrowing poem last week and being met with so much unexpected warmth here, I feel a little like them myself ... finally freed, finally moving through open water again.
We never really know how our words and images touch others, or how far their ripples travel. Thank you. πππ¦’
Thank you so much for your lovely comments, Deborah. Iβm so pleased that youβre enjoying these weekly posts and Iβm especially happy that the swan photo really resonated with you. Your comments made my day ππ
Lovely, Mark - a nice variety! I quite enjoyed the train station shots (I'm a sucker for that kind of architecture photography) and those swans are sublime π
That glove and that nest are so cool Mark. Great sighting!!!
Thanks, Shital π
TWO great series, Mark. Itβs always a great pleasure to walk and shoot with you. The cardinal is my favourite.
Many thanks, Marcello. I really enjoyed our little jaunt around the city, even if I did bring the wrong lens π€. We mustnβt leave it so long until we do it again. See you around, neighbour.

I had no idea you could listen to a post until I read your comment. Just found out how to do it so Iβll give it a try.
It seems the swan photo is a real winner this week and I agree with you that it does feel symbolically fitting.
As always, I really appreciate your comments. Thanks so much, Juliette
I was truly exhausted last night but wanted to read your post, so I let it recite to me and it was very pleasant :).

Ah, yes, those beautiful swans. It was so nice to see them amongst the ice floes. Taken with my iPhone as it was the only camera I had with me.
I love old stations as they usually have such beautiful architecture. Underneath the main hall itβs sadly very modern and uninspiring.
Thanks so much for your lovely comments, Lin. Always appreciated.
The nest is truly amazing. The swans have my sympathy. π
Nature is truly wonderful
Iβm glad to hear itβs starting to warm up for you. I really love the last two photos in particular - βfear less - create moreβ and the swans. Very nice!
Thanks, Todd. The swan photo really does seem to be a hit with everyone and I figured the βfear lessβ quote would resonate here.
Definitely appreciating the warmer weatherβ¦.less cold - more create.

Thanks for your comments and the great poem.
The swans through the ice. Amazing shot. Followed closely by the wide shot in the station. Great work Mark. Cheers!
Really appreciate your comments. Thanks, Paul.

Love these. What a cool waspβs nest! And the cardinal, very neat! Always love a squirrel, very cute. The urban shots are great. Thanks!
Thanks, KewtieBird! Much appreciated π
What a delightful post. Thank you for sharing the great variety of things you spotted this week.
Thank you so much, Pat π
"Fear less - create more." Love all of this Mark - but especially the sassy red monkey πΏοΈ
Thanks so much, Deborah. Those little red squirrels are real characters, that one in particular.

Haha! That would be me in my family π. Definitely the monkey π
me too :) lol.

Love the wildlife shots here especially. You must have an excellent vibe for them to welcome your presence.
Thanks, Jill. Maybe Iβm a βsquirrel whispererβ π
A fine thing to be! I adore them.
Lovely, Mark - a nice variety! I quite enjoyed the train station shots (I'm a sucker for that kind of architecture photography) and those swans are sublime π
Thanks, Rachel. Theres definitely something magical about older train stations. They have so much character.
Yes!
